About German Blue Ram
The German blue ram is a small, spectacularly colored dwarf cichlid native to the Orinoco River basin in Venezuela and Colombia. Its body shimmers with iridescent blue spangles over a golden-yellow base, accented by a prominent black spot on the flank and vivid red eyes. The German blue ram is the result of selective breeding from the wild ram cichlid, emphasizing blue coloration and compact body shape. Unlike many cichlids, rams are relatively peaceful and can be kept in community tanks with appropriately sized tankmates. Breeding pairs form strong bonds and both parents share egg-guarding duties, fanning the eggs and defending their territory from intruders.
