About Kuhli Loach
The kuhli loach is an eel-like bottom-dweller native to the slow-moving streams and forest floors of Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Its slender, snake-like body features alternating bands of dark brown and pinkish-orange, giving it a distinctive and somewhat exotic appearance. Kuhli loaches are primarily nocturnal and spend daylight hours burrowed into substrate or hidden among roots and plant debris. They have tiny, downward-facing mouths equipped with sensitive barbels used to probe the substrate for food particles. Despite their shy nature, kuhli loaches become more active and visible when kept in groups, often piling together in communal hiding spots.
